Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup milk Can substitute with nut milk or water.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Others
  • Oil for frying Maintain hot oil to avoid sogginess.
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  3. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about 2-3 days or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven at 250°F for about 10 minutes to regain texture. Optional spices like nutmeg can enhance flavor.
