  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs Make sure they are at room temperature.
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water Essential for a moist cake.
Frosting Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, softened At room temperature.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar May adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 0.5 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring To color the frosting.
  • Sprinkles or decorations For topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Slowly stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting and Assembly
  1. For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream while continuing to beat. Add vanilla and mix until smooth.
  3. Color the frosting with red food coloring to your liking.
  4. Once the cakes are cool, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.
  5. Decorate with sprinkles or other decorations as desired.

Notes

Store the cake in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3-5 days. Freeze slices for up to 3 months.
