Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Toasting the garlic adds depth of flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices sourdough or white bread Feel free to use whole grain or brioche as alternatives.
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Pour in the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Let it simmer until the liquid reduces by half.
Grilling
  1. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Preheat another skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  3. Place two slices of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
  4. Layer on cheddar cheese, then the beef mixture, followed by mozzarella cheese. Top with remaining bread slices, butter side up.
  5. Grill each side for 3–4 minutes until golden and the cheese melts.
  6. Slice and serve warm. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

Serve alongside a fresh salad or crunchy fries for a vibrant contrast. Experiment with dips like ketchup or spicy mustard for added flavor.
