  • 1 loaf loaf of bread, cubed Stale bread works best for flavor.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter Can be substituted with olive oil for a vegan option.
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth Adjust for moisture preference.
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and celery; sauté until soft.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, broth, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

The dressing keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 days. For freezing, it will last about a month. Reheat in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
