Ingredients

For the cauliflower
  • 1 large head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey can be substituted with maple syrup for vegan version
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce use tamari for gluten-free option
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes optional for added heat
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the cauliflower florets with olive oil, ensuring they are well-coated.
  4. Spread the cauliflower out evenly on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
Cooking
  1. Roast the cauliflower for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through until tender and nicely browned.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Heat over medium heat for about 3 to 5 minutes, until it simmers and slightly thickens.
  3. After the cauliflower is roasted, transfer it to a large bowl and pour the warm honey garlic sauce over it.
  4. Gently toss until each piece is evenly coated, then serve immediately garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

For shortcuts, you can steam the cauliflower instead of roasting for a quicker dish. For more flavors, let the sauce thicken longer or add a splash of orange juice.
