Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar for 2-3 minutes until fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture on low speed, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
Baking
- Drop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For an even softer cookie, slightly underbake them. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven or microwave as needed.
