  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Make sure it’s fresh for best results.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Don't skip the seasoning.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup milk Can use non-dairy milk for a vegan option.
  • 1/4 cup melted butter Vegan butter can be used for a vegan version.
  • 2 large eggs
Filling
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Try different cheeses like gouda or pepper jack.
  • 1 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage or bacon Season for extra flavor.
  • Optional chopped green onions or herbs for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and eggs.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in cheese and cooked sausage or bacon.
  6. Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Let cool slightly, then cut into rolls and serve warm.

Notes

Best served hot, optionally drizzled with maple syrup or spicy sriracha sauce. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for a month.
