Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 450°F. Spray a 9x9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
- In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium-high heat until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain grease on paper towels.
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, and baking powder. Stir in buttermilk until a sticky batter forms.
- Gently fold in the cheese and cooked sausage until well combined.
- Pour melted butter into the baking dish. Add biscuit dough on top and spread it evenly. Cut into 9 squares.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, rotating once, until golden brown. A toothpick should come out clean.
- Cover with foil if they brown too quickly.
Notes
These biscuits can be served with soups or salads. Store leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven for best results. Use cold buttermilk for fluffiness, or swap ingredients for a vegan option.
