Dry Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour Can substitute with regular flour.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness as preferred.
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted coconut oil Coconut oil adds a slight flavor twist.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar Can substitute with lemon juice.
  • 1 cup water For extra moisture, add an extra tablespoon.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the gluten-free flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the vegetable oil, vanilla extract, apple cider vinegar, and water. Stir until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cake cool before serving.

Notes

For serving, frost with chocolate ganache, top with berries, or sprinkle with powdered sugar. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
