  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
For Rolling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing until fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  2. Roll the balls in powdered sugar until well-coated.
  3. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges look set and the tops are crinkled.
  5. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Freeze for up to three months.
