  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 cups cubed bread Any kind of bread can be used.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice of cheese.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • optional Chopped green onions for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned; drain excess fat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Layer the bread cubes in a greased casserole dish.
  4. Add the cooked sausage and cheese on top of the bread.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the top, ensuring all bread is soaked.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden brown.
  3. Garnish with green onions if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or freeze tightly wrapped. Reheat in the oven or microwave. For variations, consider using different types of bread and cheese or making a vegan version.
