  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled sausage or bacon (optional) Optional for meat lovers.
Seasonings and Additional Flavorings
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (e.g., parsley or chives)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) Optional for added flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Place torn croissant pieces in the dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and vanilla (if using).
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the croissants.
  5. Sprinkle with cheese, sausage or bacon (if using), and herbs.
  6. Press down lightly to soak the croissants.
  7. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Baking
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake, uncovered, for 30-35 minutes or until set and golden brown.
  3. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This casserole keeps well in the fridge for 3-4 days. For freezing, wrap individual portions in plastic wrap and foil.
