- In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
 - In a large bowl, combine the eggs, milk, mustard, salt, and pepper. Whisk until blended.
 - In a greased baking dish, layer the cubed bread, followed by the browned sausage.
 - Pour the egg mixture over the bread and sausage, ensuring everything is soaked evenly.
 - Top with shredded cheese.
 - Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
 
Baking
- The next morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
 - Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden.
 - Let it cool slightly before serving.
 
Notes
Let it rest for a few minutes after baking so it holds together perfectly when you slice into it.
