Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, instant yeast, and sugar.
- Slowly add the warm water and olive oil. Stir until just blended; it should look a bit shaggy and sloppy.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for about 12–18 hours.
Baking
- The next day, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- Once preheated, carefully remove the pot. Pour in the dough (grease or line it) and cover it with a lid.
- Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on, then remove the lid and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool before slicing—patience is a virtue!
Notes
Use a kitchen scale for precise measurements. Experiment with flavors by adding herbs or cheese. The longer the dough rests, the better the flavor and texture.
