Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1.5 tablespoons dried Italian herb blend
Cheese Ingredients
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil, 3 cups of flour, and salt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic, adding remaining flour as needed.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
Making the Filling
  1. Meanwhile, mix softened butter with minced garlic and dried herbs.
Assembling the Loaf
  1. Roll dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle, spread with herb butter, and sprinkle with cheeses and parsley.
  2. Roll tightly from the long side, pinch seam to seal, and place in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  3. Let rise another 30-45 minutes.
Baking
  1. Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  2. This Italian herbs and cheese bread is best served warm!
