Ingredients
  

Bread and Vegetables
  • 4 pieces Italian bread or hoagie rolls Can use ciabatta or focaccia instead.
  • 1 cup Lettuce Use your favorite type of lettuce.
  • 2 medium Tomatoes Sliced.
  • 1 medium Onion Sliced thin.
  • 1/2 cup Pepperoncini Sliced.
  • 1/2 cup Olives Sliced or whole, based on preference.
Meats and Cheese
  • 4 oz Salami
  • 4 oz Ham
  • 4 oz Provolone cheese Can substitute with mozzarella or pepper jack.
Dressings and Seasonings
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Red wine vinegar Can substitute with balsamic vinegar.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the Italian bread or hoagie rolls in half lengthwise.
  2. Layer the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pepperoncini, olives, salami, ham, and provolone cheese inside the bread.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and red wine vinegar, then sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Close the sandwich and press down gently.
  5. Slice and serve cold or at room temperature.

Notes

For a creamier taste, spread mayo or aioli on the insides of the bread. Let the filled sandwich sit for a few minutes before serving to enhance the flavors.
