  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast 1 packet.
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour for a denser texture.
  • 1 tablespoon salt For dough flavor.
  • 1/4 cup olive oil Plus extra for drizzling.
Toppings
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Consider toasting for enhanced flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped Can be swapped with thyme or basil.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast; let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture; stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Baking

  2. Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet; use your fingers to stretch and flatten the dough.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic, rosemary, and a bit of olive oil; drizzle over the top of the dough.
  4. Make dimples in the surface with your fingers, then sprinkle with sea salt.
  5. Let rise for another 20 minutes.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh. Leftovers can be stored for about 3 days at room temperature or a week in the fridge. For freezing, wrap slices tightly and keep for up to a month. Reheat in the oven for best results.
