- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, Italian herbs, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, shape it, and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Don’t rush the rising! It ensures fluffiness. Feel free to swap cheeses or use fresh herbs for added flavor. Additional ingredients like sun-dried tomatoes or jalapeños can also be added for variety. Slice before freezing for quick meals.
