  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute for turkey or a plant-based alternative
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Regular or any preferred variety
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with cream of chicken or homemade white sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped Adds flavor to the beef
  • to taste salt and pepper For seasoning
  • optional mixed vegetables (frozen or fresh) Can add extra nutrition

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat, draining any excess grease.
  3. In a large baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, the cooked ground beef mixture, and optional mixed vegetables.
  4. Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the layers and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  5. Top with shredded cheese.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 1 hour.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  3. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve straight from the dish to the table for a family-style experience. Pair with a salad for a fresh contrast. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
