Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two heart-shaped cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
- Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
- In a bowl, cream the butter. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with milk until you reach desired consistency.
- Once cooled, frost one layer, stack the other layer on top, and frost the top and sides.
- Decorate as desired and serve!
Notes
For a lighter texture, use cake flour instead of all-purpose flour. To enhance flavor, substitute melted butter for vegetable oil and add espresso powder to the batter.
