Main Ingredients
  • 1 package Hawaiian rolls (12-count)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons butter (for frying)
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Maple syrup (optional, for serving)

Method

Preparation
  1. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half and set them aside.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.
  3. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Cooking
  1. Dip each half of the rolls in the egg mixture, allowing them to soak for a moment.
  2. Place soaked rolls in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup if desired.

Notes

You can prepare the batter and soak the rolls the night before, just store them in the fridge and cook them fresh in the morning. Leftovers will keep in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the fridge; they can be frozen for up to a month.
