  • 1 pound ground beef or sausage You can use either ground beef or sausage.
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage For added flavor.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz) Creamy base for the filling.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to substitute with other cheeses like pepper jack.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package cocktail rye bread Base for the appetizers.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well mixed.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Spread a slice of cocktail rye bread on a baking sheet and top each with the meat mixture.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes
