Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (67 g)
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar (100 g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled) (186 g)
Add-ins
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2-3/4 cup Halloween sprinkles
  • Candy eyes (optional) (but like, why not?)

Method

Preparation
  1. Mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a bowl until everything’s smooth and combined.
  2. Add in the vanilla and egg, mixing them together until they're well combined.
  3. Sift in your flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix on low until they just start to come together, then turn up the speed and mix for 15-30 seconds until it’s smooth. Make sure not to overmix.
  4. Fold in the spooky sprinkles and chocolate chips with a spatula.
  5. Scoop 2-tablespoon balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Wrap it in plastic and refrigerate for 1.5 to 2 hours, or up to 24 hours.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350℉.
  2. Place the chilled dough balls on a lined baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  3. Bake for 11-13 minutes until the edges turn golden brown.
  4. Add your candy eyes as soon as they come out of the oven.
Serving
  1. Cool the cookies down and enjoy with a glass of cold milk or warm mug of cider.

Notes

Do not skip the chill time for better texture. Mix different types of chocolate chips for variety. Always line your baking sheet to prevent sticking.
