  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for healthier bites.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Sauté until softened.
  • 1 medium bell pepper, sliced (optional) Can be omitted based on preference.
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Any sturdy bread can be used.
  • 8 oz provolone cheese Can swap for Swiss or spicy pepper jack.
  • to taste salt and pepper Adjust seasoning to personal preference.
  • as needed oil for sautéing Use for cooking onions and beef.

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil.
  2. Sauté the sliced onions (and bell pepper if you’re using it) until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until fully browned.
Assembly and Cooking
  1. Preheat your oven or toaster oven.
  2. Once the beef is cooked, divide it among the hoagie rolls and top with cheese.
  3. Place the filled rolls in the oven until the cheese melts and the rolls are toasty.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with crispy fries or a fresh side salad.

Notes

These sandwiches can be stored in the fridge for about 3-4 days. They freeze well for up to three months. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
