- In a large skillet, drizzle olive oil and heat over medium-high.
- Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 3–5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, toss them in now and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Push veggies to the side, add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook until no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well for about 2 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low and place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture, covering the skillet to melt for about 2–3 minutes.
- Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
- Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
- Optionally, toast the rolls before serving.
Notes
Serve with a side of crispy fries or a fresh salad. Add toppings like jalapeños or pickles for extra crunch. If you have leftovers, store them in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
