  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring Can substitute with beet juice for a natural alternative.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips if you’re feeling extra adventurous.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Let cool before frosting with cream cheese, if desired.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better blending. Check brownies for doneness with a toothpick; a few moist crumbs indicate they're ready. Optional: add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance chocolate flavor.
