Ingredients

For the mac and cheese bites
  • 2 cups cooked macaroni Use your favorite type of macaroni.
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese You can substitute with other cheeses.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Panko will give an extra crunchy texture.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust seasoning to your preference.
  • as needed for frying Oil Use oil suitable for frying.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix your cooked macaroni with shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  2. Form the mixture into small balls or bites, like mini cheeseburger patties.
  3. Set up your breading station: line up the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  4. Roll each bite in flour, dip it in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Once hot, fry the bites in batches until golden brown and crispy—about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  2. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.

Notes

Chill the bites for about 30 minutes before frying to help maintain their shape. You can use different cheeses for variations such as mozzarella or pepper jack. For a crunchier finish, double-coat the bites by dipping in egg and breadcrumbs again. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
