Baking the Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in eggs one at a time and then add vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips gently using a spatula.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for about 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For extra chewy cookies, chill your dough for 30 minutes before baking. You can substitute half the butter for applesauce for a lighter version. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5-7 days.
