Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Method
 

Baking the Cookies
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time and then add vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips gently using a spatula.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for about 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For extra chewy cookies, chill your dough for 30 minutes before baking. You can substitute half the butter for applesauce for a lighter version. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5-7 days.
