  • 2-3 pounds beef chuck roast Choose a chuck roast for tenderness.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste Adjust according to preference.
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls
  • Sliced provolone or mozzarella cheese (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Season the beef roast with salt and pepper, then lay it on top of the onion and garlic.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and thyme, then pour it over the roast.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender.
  5. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks in the slow cooker and stir it with the juices.
  6. Cut the hoagie rolls and fill them with the shredded beef, adding cheese if desired.
  7. Serve with a cup of the au jus for dipping.

Notes

For variations, consider sautéed peppers or mushrooms for added flavor. For a vegan option, use jackfruit or plant-based protein.
