Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf Brioche or French bread, cut into thick slices
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 A pinch of salt
  • Sugar for caramelizing on top
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until frothy.
  3. Arrange the bread slices in the baking dish, overlapping them slightly for a cozy fit.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread, ensuring each slice soaks up all that goodness.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for the best results.
Baking
  1. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
  2. Remove from the oven and sprinkle a thin layer of sugar on top.
  3. Using a kitchen torch, caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy, golden crust.
  4. Let it cool slightly, then serve warm.

Notes

If you have leftovers, you can keep this in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes or microwave for about 30 seconds.
