Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Add-ins
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; then set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy (about two minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden around the edges but soft in the center.
  3. Let cool on wire racks before enjoying.

Notes

Chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies. Can substitute half of the butter with applesauce for a healthier version. Always use parchment paper to prevent sticking.
