Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup softened butter (I use salted) Can substitute with unsalted butter.
  • 1 each egg Can substitute with a flax egg for a vegan option.
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
Sugars
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Packed tightly.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Chocolate
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to mix types of chocolate.

Method

Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Cream together the butter, both sugars, egg, baking soda, salt, and vanilla until light and fluffy — about 5 minutes.
  3. Add flour and stir until well combined.
  4. Mix in chocolate chips until just incorporated.
  5. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto ungreased or parchment-covered cookie sheets.
  6. Bake at 325°F for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges barely start to brown.
  7. Cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking to prevent spreading. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.
