Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Spoon and level to avoid dense cookies.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Mix with hot water before adding.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Other Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons hot water To mix with baking soda.
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate baking chips Ghirardelli are recommended.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix the butter with the sugars on medium speed until creamy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, along with the vanilla. Mix on low until combined.
  4. Stir baking soda into the warm water, then add it to the batter.
  5. Mix in the baking powder and salt. Gradually stir in the flour.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop heaping 2 tablespoon-sized balls of dough about 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
  2. Bake for 12-13 minutes, or until golden. Remove from the oven, let cool, and transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm and consider pairing with milk or coffee. Top with a sprinkle of sea salt for extra flavor.
