Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Chocolate Chips
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of the dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  3. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature butter. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can yield thicker cookies. Store in an air-tight container for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
