Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Measure correctly to avoid dry cookies.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature Should be soft for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs Add one at a time.
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Chocolate Chips
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips Choose your preferred type of chocolate.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using a mixer, cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the salt, vanilla, and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  3. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. You can also experiment with different types of chocolate or add nuts for additional flavor.
