  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or dark for best results.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  2. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best texture, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week or freeze for up to three months.
