  • 2 cups milk Whole milk or your choice of milk
  • 4 cups bread cubes Day-old bread is preferred
  • 2 cups cooked sausage or bacon, crumbled Use your preferred meat
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or choice of cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust according to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground recommended
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder For extra flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder For extra flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Assembly
  1. Layer the bread cubes in the bottom of the prepared casserole dish.
  2. Sprinkle the crumbled sausage or bacon over the bread.
  3. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and meat.
  4. Top with shredded cheese.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  2. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, let the casserole sit for five minutes after baking for easier serving. You can customize by adding vegetables like spinach or peppers and using different cheeses.
