Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
For Serving
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
  • as needed cooked rice or noodles for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Stir to mix.
  2. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour the bourbon mixture over the chicken and bring to a simmer.
  5. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the chicken.
  6. Serve over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

For added flavor, toast the garlic before adding it to the sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months. Reheat with a splash of water to prevent drying out.
