Ingredients

For the Bloody Spaghetti
  • 12 oz spaghetti noodles
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic enhances flavor.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar Balances the acidity of tomatoes.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional) Adjust based on spice preference.
For the Mozzarella Eyeballs
  • 12 small fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
  • 6 pieces black olives (pitted and sliced in half)
  • a few drops balsamic glaze or food-safe black food coloring (optional) For an eerie effect.

Method

Preparation
  1. Fill a large pot with salted water and bring it to a boil. Toss in the spaghetti noodles and cook according to package instructions (usually 8–10 minutes) until they’re al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onions for 2–3 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Stir well and let the sauce simmer uncovered for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
  4. Press a slice of black olive into the center of each mozzarella ball. Optionally, add drops of balsamic glaze or food coloring for a spooky pupil effect.
Assembly
  1. Toss the spaghetti into the bloody sauce until well coated. Plate it up and place mozzarella eyeballs on top, nestling them into the noodles.

Notes

Presentation is key! Use big bowls to showcase the bright red sauce. For decor, fake spider webs can add to the fun, but don’t let anyone eat them! Serve with garlic bread to balance the dish.
