  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to use dark, milk, or white chocolate.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
Baking
  1. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature or freeze for up to 3 months.
