  • 2 cups rolled oats For best texture.

  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Optional for sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup nuts or chocolate chips Optional for added texture and flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional for flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
  3. Add the oats, cinnamon, salt, honey or maple syrup, nuts or chocolate chips, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Mix until combined.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

These bars can be served warm with a drizzle of honey or topped with yogurt. They can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or frozen for about three months.
