Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground beef or turkey Can substitute with ground turkey for a lighter option
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Can be replaced with crushed crackers or oatmeal for a gluten-free option
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced Toasting enhances flavor
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
For Assembly
  • 12 oz Spaghetti Cook according to package instructions until al dente
  • 3 cups Marinara sauce Divided for layers
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded For topping
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil For browning meatballs

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix the ground meat with breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Form into meatballs.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides.
Assembly and Baking
  1. In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce.
  2. Add the cooked spaghetti and meatballs on top.
  3. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  4. Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  5. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Can be prepared ahead of time. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
